The Creechan Family – Ireland to Dundee
The Creechan Family came to Dundee from Ireland, via Glasgow. My Grandfather, Thomas Creechan, was an engineer with premises in Brook Street, Dundee. He had a number of business interests including general engineering, vulcanising, also a motor garage and Morris dealership.
He had three children, Mary, Josephine and Thomas. He also became father to Rose Ann Creechan (Rose Ann Whelan) through marriage to his wife Mary.
My father, Thomas, also became an engineer. He served in the RAF during world war two. After the war he worked for various electrical companies, culminating in his work with the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board. In 1972, in partnership with me and his wife, we purchased the West End Hotel, Roseangle, Dundee.
Tom Creechan had an outward, outgoing personality. He was particularly attentive to “the fairer sex” and was regarded as a “great character” by many.
I am keen to talk to more people with memories of those days, before the memories fade. Please drop a mail to:-
